The sun was shining when Bob woke up but his girlfriend was still asleep, a flipper carelessly thrown across Bob. Bob held her for a few more minutes enjoying the warmth of her body, her scent mixing with the laundry smell still part of the freshly washed sheets.
A few minutes later Bob sighed and gently disengaged himself from her and abandoned the warm cocune of bed sheets and girlfriend for the cold but friendly confines of the kitchen.
First he filled the kettle with water and set it on the stove then he opened the fridge and took out some new potatoes along with shallots, an onion, mushrooms, a few fresh tomatoes and a green bell pepper.
Bob comfortably moved around the kitchen in his breakfast preparation. It was the weekend, his phone was off even the polar bears took the weekend off. Bob moved the kettle from high to low and set the tea to brew. He then took out the new potatoes and gently drained them, taking care to not break them apart Bob cut them into smaller pieces. He then took a heavy pan and melted some butter into it. As the butter heated up on medium heat he put the sliced new potatoes into the pan and gave them a generous covering of coarse sale, fresh black pepper and paprika.
As the butter did its magic on the potatoes, Bob cut his green pepper, mushrooms, tomatoes, onions and shallots into smaller pieces. He heated up another pan and threw in the onions and the shallots, once they were carmelized he added in the tomatoes and after another minute the mushrooms and the green peppers.
As the mixture cooked over high heat Bob turned over the new potatoes and added another covering of salt, pepper and paprika to them. He then put turned his attention to the frying pan. He turned the heat down to medium added a few smoked pieces of pesto jack cheese and as soon as the cheese started to melt added in a few fresh brown eggs.
Bob turned the heat on his scrambled eggs to low and started to mix and fold the eggs onto themselves. After 3-4 minutes the scrambled eggs were ready, Bob added in the new potatoes on the side and poured himself a cup of tea with a spoon of brown sugar. As Bob chewed on the freshly toasted bread he read his paper, the comics were good that day.
Bob washed the dishes, put everything back in its place and went back to bed, his girlfriend sleepily turned and said.
“Something smells good, did you make breakfast ?”
Bob took a moment to wipe the last bit of yolk from his beak and replied.
“No honey it must be the neighbors, go back to sleep”
It’s true what they say, the early penguin gets the breakfast who was Bob to break the rules.
