Happy new year

Posted by Asad | General | Wednesday 21 March 2007 1:35 pm

Happy new year everyone.

Things I learned by watching 300.

10. You can kill a rhinoceros with a single spear.

9. Elephants are scared of spears and fall down cliffs easily.

8. Persians have all the hot lesbians (yay for us).

7. You can’t trust handicapped people.

6. Persians have black blood.

5. Americans have no idea how important eyebrows are to Persians, did anyone else see Xerxes eyebrows.

4. Greek politicians loved anal even in the old days.

3. You don’t need to follow any laws, just remember what a free man would do. I am going to free a sandwich later today. If anyone tries to stop me I’ll just tell them remember Freedom is not Free.
2. The video game of 300 can’t be far behind.

1. I should join the US army and kick some brown/black ass. (more…)

wallabie

So you are wondering what’s happened to me, ok you are not really but I’ll tell you anyways.  I have a ton of expenses to do, work has been brutal and my apartment is a mess in serious need of a clean up.  Currently this is what’s in my fridge.

- half a stick of butter

- 6 bottles of water

- 1 1/2 bottles of regular snapples

- half a bowl of spaghetti

- half a gallon of milk

- onions & potatoes

That’s it, no fruits or vegetables, no other food, it’s a sad sad sight.  In the meantime just imagine these wallabies coming to you and asking “doood you got any food ?  I got the munchies”.

Apple rules the world

Posted by Asad | General | Tuesday 6 March 2007 8:14 am

This picture came about accidentally I didn’t have the polarizing filter on and so my reflection was captured off of the glass. It was instantly one of my favorite pictures. I really like the floating apple logo above Sydney. I’ve included the full pic which is 1.3 megs, so don’t click on the pic unless you want it as a full size jpg. I’ll probably do some more work on it when I get home.

best pic ever

Dead Santa

Steve as a doll

I could easily recognize the smell now, a mix of eucalyptus leaves and koala piss. It wafted between the tourists, on the side a few miserable looking crocodiles lay at the bottom of transparent pools, the green murky waters that would normally cover them gone. Instead crystal clear waters pumped through industrial strength filters leaving them nowhere to hide. They looked, sad, used, helpless lying at the bottom of the pool laid bare to the eyes and the occasional flashing camera. The grass besides the pool green and cut well enough to play golf on. Everywhere you looked men and women dressed in khakis were ready to sell you $3 bottled water or perhaps a little story about how Steve first learned to tame crocodiles, of course you would get the full details on dvd 1, can’t forget about dvd 1, great footage on that really worth the price.
Sad Croc
I walked inside the multi story Croc building and saw a line forming, here again you could hug a koala bear and have your picture taken with it. I started to stand in line but something stopped me, I am not sure what. I stepped back and looked at the koala handler, there was something wrong with the picture. Then I realized what it was. When I took my koala picture me and the photographer moved but here they would move the koala point him in the right direction. I am not sure why but that really bothered me so I decided to skip my second koala hug.

more koala

Feeling a bit like a kid who has seen Santa take off his coat and throw down a shot of whisky I ran to the information booth. They had a session with a wombat, my life would be almost complete. Hanging out with a wombat yeah that’s all that was needed to save this day. The smiling khaki clad drone was more than happy to set me up with my very own personal wombat experience for a $30 fee, I asked about the possum oh that would be only $20. It’s a bit more pricey for the cuter animals. This is on top of the $48 admission fee.

The plastic Steves, the t-shirts, the guy dressed in a crocodile suit. Santa wasn’t just throwing down shots of whisky, he had his trousers down and getting a blowjob from miss Clause while doing a few rails. I’d changed my flight and taken a 1 1/2 hour long train ride to get to this place and I couldn’t help but feel that I was at some strange version of Disney Land. Imported American Crocodiles, Indian tigers and elephants, 12 year old kids working the counters,… the whole place had a surreal feel to it.
Steve croc dolls
On TV Steve was larger than life and that was something we could all enjoy but in real life ? I guess some things are just better on TV or in ones imagination. The Australian Zoo or the Steve Irwin theme park is certainly one of them.

My Job

Brisbane River
There’s another flight tomorrow back to Sydney, and back to work on Monday morning.  It’s amazing how quickly the time passes when you have to run from meeting to meeting.  Saba had asked what is it that I do so here’s my attempt at explaining my job.  I do a bit of everything in a nut shell, sales, training, customer support,… The official title for my position is SE and depending on the company it’s either Systems Engineer or Sales Engineer.

When you sell a technical product you need someone to explain what the product does and answer questions about the product, that’s where the SE comes in.  In general the Sales guy/gal will deal with pricing while the SE will deal with getting the product to work properly.  Of course there are always exceptions, Sales guys that are technical, SEs that can sell but that’s a general outline.  Now my job is to be a resource to the International team, wherever someone has a need they call up HQ and ask for help and I get shipped out.  It’s fun but also stressful, you have to work with different groups and deal with different problems each time.

Right now there seems to be a lack of talent in the SE world, it is a very small world after all, you run into the same people all the time.  So if my job sounds interesting feel free to start looking, I know a couple of recruiters who have open positions.

By the way I have created a new rule, one koala picture per post until I run out of koala pictures.
Koala!
I have all the pics over here but they are unsorted and untouched.  (You will need FireFox or something that understands RSS, IE won’t work.)
